The Miracle Twins arrive in SM11! The latest Pokémon TCG expansion!

Posted by Braysh Gaming on Jun 4, 2019

The latest core expansion has arrived from the Pokémon TCG, and with it comes one of the most desired Tag Team GX cards since the concept was announced - Introducing SM11, Miracle Twin!

Miracle Twin is a core expansion, meaning we're treated to a huge 94+ card set! The release date for SM11 was May 31st and available to order from Plaza Japan now! But what are we to expect from the latest and greatest from the Pokémon TCG?

Miracle Twins Mew & Mewtwo battle on the front of a new GX Tag Team card.

Surely Miracle Twin can only mean one thing? A Tag Team of Legendary proportions, as we have two Pokémon genetically intertwined in body, spirit, and now in GX form! Mewtwo & Mew GX!

We've been waiting a long time to see this Psychic-type duo together, and it promises to be worth the wait. Mewtwo & Mew brings with it not only a mighty GX attack, but also an Ability of unlimited opportunities! This card has the Ability "Perfection", meaning that this Pokémon can use the attacks of any GX or EX Pokémon either on your Bench on in the Discard Pile. Now that's what we call Psychic!

All that power before we've even looked at Mewtwo & Mew's own GX attack, once again named after the set - Miracle Twin GX! Flipping the switch on Miracle Twin GX will do 200 damage to the opposition, but if you have an additional energy attached to this card (in addition to the attack cost), then heal all damage from all your Pokémon! You won't be needing a Miracle to beat your opponent with Abilities and attacks like this!

What else will Miracle Twin bring? Well, being a core expansion, we have a total of six new additions to the GX roster! Three of these are Tag Team GX cards, and joining Mewtwo & Mew are two very contrasting collaborations.

The first of these includes the first Mega Pokémon of the Sun & Moon era - Mega Sableye & Tyranitar GX! This first Dark-type GX of its kind promises to be an intriguing addition to the TCG, but the final Tag Team GX addition of SM11 could called somewhat... confusing? Only two Pokémon could possibly come to mind when called confusing! That's right, Slowpoke & Psyduck GX is as beautiful as it is unusual! What a combination!

Slowpoke & Psyduck could produce the greatest alternate art Tag Team GX to date, but we can't wait to see what all these cards will look like in Full Art, Hyper Rare and Alt Art form!

Three GX Pokémon complete the GX line-up, as Hoenn Legendary Latios GX , the Fossil Pokémon Aerodactyl GX and a second Dragonite GX card enter the fray! There's not a bad card in this set!

Let's turn to Trainers, and as always, we'll start with the TR cards! These holo alternate art Trainers are limited to one per box, and this time we have Pal Pad, Pokégear 3.0, Mysterious Treasure and the brilliant Sightseer. Sightseer in particular is very nice, as the reprint is actually of the picture being taken in the original artwork. This almost makes up for it missing out on a Full Art thus far. Almost!

In terms of new Items, Miracle Twin has four new cards to be found. Entering the TCG for the first time will be Great Potion, Stadium Nav , Unidentified Fossil and Giant Bomb! We also have the new Stadium cards Slumber Forrest and Pokémon Research Lab.

Giant Bomb is the one that could swing the battle in an explosive way! If the Pokémon this card is attached to is your Active Pokémon and takes 180 or more damage from an opponent's attack, put 10 damage counters on the Attacking Pokémon. Your opposition will think twice before launching an attack! Will this turn golden as a UR Item?

Our favourites are always the Supporters, and this time SM11 hasn't let us down. It was only a matter of time before the trio of Red, Blue and Green were completed, and it's finally happened here with Green's Strategy ! This card means that when the turn is over, draw cards until you have 8 cards in your hand. Handy.

The incredible Supporters don't stop there. We'll also been on the lookout for Misty's Request as we open our packs! As one of the original Characters, Misty will be popular for sure, and you almost have to feel sorry for Channeler as the line-up in completed! We're already dreaming of the Green's Strategy and Misty's Request SR "Full Art" cards!

You don't need to be a Psychic-type to know that this set is essential. SM11 is packed with the latest must-have Pokémon, Items and Supporters - all about to turn the tides of battle. How will your opponent cope with the unpredictable pool of GX attacks from Mewtwo & Mew's "Perfection" Ability? Maybe you plan to blow them away with a Giant Bomb, or kick it old-school with Green and Misty? Miracle Twin really is a set not to be missed, so don't forget to order from Plaza Japan today!
