Frequently Asked Questions

See what other customers are asking about their models — and the answers to them!

How do I get started with models?

That’s easy! Browse the wide variety of options available online or in-person, and pick a model kit that looks interesting. Before you know it, you’ll have the pieces in your hands! Jumping straight in and getting some hands-on experience with simple, beginner-friendly models without too many parts is the best way to get started.

Are plastic models difficult to build?

Builds require lots of patience to complete. Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth build, some models can be a little tricky. But don’t worry! Every kit comes with a set of instructions, so you’ll never have to worry about successfully completing it on your own.

What glue should I use?

While building a model, the last thing you want is for your creation to fall apart. Many customers use super glue to hold the pieces of their model in place. Any thick glue will work. There are some brands that sell specialized glue or “cement” designed for model building.

Should I paint the plastic model before or after assembly?

This decision is entirely up to the artist! If you paint before assembling, you’ll be able to reach the cracks and crevices that may be difficult once all the pieces are together. On the other hand, the glue can get a little messy and the model parts can get scuffed while fitting them together. Painting a kit after it’s assembled will hide any glue runoff and scratches.
