Gyokuyou might be the precious consort of the palace and the Emperor’s favorite, but she doesn’t let that get to her head. She’s the rare warm and friendly face in a court where everyone has a dagger at their backs. Gyokuyou instantly takes to Maomao and is her biggest supporter on the show.

The biggest thing you need to know about Gyokuyou? She’s the voice of reason among the consorts and fiercely protective of the few she trusts.

Consort Lihua

If Gyokuyou is sunny and bright, Lihua is the calm and proud counterbalance. The proud and endlessly elegant Eastern Consort is initially haughty and distrustful of Maomao, protective of her position.

The Emperor

4. Farfetch’d’s name (kamonegi / duck green onion in Japanese) is based on the Japanese Proverb “a duck comes bearing green onions”.

The proverb is a reference to a lucky occurrence, as duck stew is said to be delicious when served with green onions. Due to the rarity of such a lucky event, some may say that it’s “far-fetched”.

5. Mew was added just two weeks before game development finished for Pokemon Red and Green.

Hell’s Paradise: Season 2

Hell’s Paradise, or Jigokuraku, is been keeping us on the edge of our seats; we are so glad that this winter 2026, we finally get more of the anime with some of the most stunning animation we’ve seen. Season 1 of Hell’s Paradise aired back in the spring of 2023, and it’s felt like an eternity since that mind-bending cliffhanger last season.

By the end of its fantastic and fantastical first season, our flawed hero, Gabimaru, is stuck on the island Shinsenkyo, battling demons and beginning to question his own reality. Ironically, “Shinsenkyo” means “divine paradise,” but his own experiences were the opposite of idyllic. After all, it wasn’t like Gabimaru exactly wanted to be escorted around by the executioner Sagiri in a “do or die” mission.

Just as ironically, Gabimaru was searching for a mythical flower to prolong the emperor’s life, when all he wanted to do was stop living his. By the end of Season 1, he was questioning the very reality of that life.

Good thing we don’t need any special elixir to hold out any longer! Hell’s Paradise is an absolute must-watch anime for the winter of 2026.

Oshi No Ko: Season 3

Oshi No Ko continues its anime this 2026 winter with its newest season, and we are very starry-eyed about it all! Just like its first two seasons, Oshi No Ko continues the saga of the highest highs and the lowest lows of the J-Pop scene. Just like the stars of the series, this anime has a complicated background: it's part kawaii, part psychological thriller, and definitely a murder mystery tied up with a neat little baby bow (or two).
