The Ki-61 Hayabusa, which served as the Army's main fighter throughout World War II, was the last production model, the Model 3A. In response to the demands on the front lines for faster aircraft, it was equipped with water-methanol injection and a thrust-type single exhaust pipe, achieving a speed increase of about 50km/h compared to the Model 2.
Combined with its excellent maneuverability and high reliability, it was popular with pilots and fought in the Philippines, Burma, China, and other places from the end of 1944 until the end of the war.
