The EF64 was introduced in 1964 for use on steeply graded tracks. It is a versatile DC electric locomotive also used on flat sections.

- Authentic reproduction of the later JR Freight renewed EF64 cars that feature a single blue color on the upper body.
- Based on the EF64-0 7th form JR Freight renewal vehicle, including examples EF64-59, 64, 73, 74.
- Originally many type EF64-0 units inherited by JR Freight had a three tone livery of light purple, sky blue, and deep blue; around 2002 this was updated to a two tone scheme of light purple and deep blue.
- Units from Shiojiri Locomotive Depot served the Chuo Line and Shinonoi Line until 2008. Units from Aichi Locomotive Depot served the Chuo Line and Shinonoi Line until 2011 and the Hakubi Line until 2013.
