The series 24 type 25-100 is a limited express sleeper car introduced in 1976. After the Asakaze 1 and 4 services ended, several gold‑band series 24-25 cars were transferred to the Aomori Rolling Stock Center and used on the Akebono, Nihonkai, and Hakutsuru services. The OHANEFU 25 cars at Aomori Rolling Stock Center had their conductor compartment windows modified to open inward, giving them a distinctive appearance.
