The EH500 series is a two-car AC/DC electric locomotive introduced by JR Freight in March 2000. Assigned to the Sendai General Railway Department, these locomotives primarily haul freight between the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Tohoku region. Early third-generation units 10 to 14 retain a thick front light cover frame characteristic of second-generation models. As of 2025, units 12 to 14 have been repainted in a new scheme without the JRF marking, while units 10 and 11 remain in the original JRF-marked livery.
