The M249, originally adopted by the U.S. military in 1982 as a squad automatic weapon, has been upgraded over time based on combat lessons, evolving from the original "Minimi" design into a different form.
The 2020s version of the M249 used by the U.S. military includes several enhancements:
- Two barrel options, short and long
- Gas regulator removed
- Rail handguard with upgraded bipod
- Scope integration
- Telescopic stock
- 200-round fabric magazine
This Little Armory model accurately reproduces the upgraded M249 at a 1/12 scale, allowing for selectable stock and barrel length options.
