The Monocoque Bus Revived in the Reiwa Era
Modeling of the Kokusai Kogyo Isuzu BU04 Route Bus
● Highlights ●
1. Production of the Resurrected “BU04” in 2024
2. New Parts to Replicate the Exhaust Gas Purification Device (DPF)
3. Attention to Detail in Interior and Exterior Coloring
The Isuzu BU series debuted to enhance transportation capacity during the economic boom.
Following a minor change in 1972, the group with a 4.8m wheelbase was assigned the BU04 model,
which was widely used by Kokusai Kogyo with routes in Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture.
The model 3491 is based on a 1980 model at the end of its production life, primarily operated from
the Akabane depot. After retiring from Kokusai Kogyo, it was transferred to Iwate Public Transportation,
continuing service until 2005. The vehicle was preserved by Tomytec and returned to Kokusai Kogyo in 2023
for extensive restoration. It was revived as a licensed vehicle in February 2024, marking its return in the Reiwa Era.
To commemorate the revival of model 3491, a new version of the Isuzu BU04 model joins the TLV-NEO lineup.
Using the resurrected vehicle as a prototype, updates have been applied to this model version.
The TLV-NEO replicates the DPF, installed for compliance with the metropolitan area's diesel vehicle regulations,
with newly designed parts. The body color is based on the paint used in the vehicle's restoration,
offering a realistic feel, with improvements in detailed interior and exterior coloring.
Enjoy the nostalgic monocoque bus, revived in the Reiwa Era, on your desk.
