-The train can be motorized to an N scale train and is compatible with TM-08R Motorized Chassis, TT-04R Trailer Conversion Kit, and Tomix 0258 Pantograph.
A total of 712 Tobu Railway 8000 and 8500 series cars have been manufactured since 1963, making them the largest number of cars of the same model among private railway commuter trains.
Of these, the 8500 series is a fixed two-car formation.
Taking advantage of the short formations, mainly later-manufactured cars have been adapted for single-man operation in conjunction with repair work, and they have been in service on the Kameido Line, Daishi Line, Kiryu Line, Koizumi Line, and Sano Line.
Currently, the same lines are gradually being replaced with 10000 series single-man operated cars, and the 8500 series will cease commercial operation within Tokyo with its operation on the Daishi Line on July 15, 2025.
