Nankai Electric Railway is a company that connects Osaka's Namba to Wakayama and Koyasan areas, as well as Kansai International Airport. Established in December 1885, it is the oldest private railway in Japan. The 2200 Series 2230 model was introduced in 1993 as a modified version of the 22000 Series that had been operating on the Nankai Koya Line since 1969. Modifications included the removal of front passageway hoop frames and electric couplers, and later updates were made for one-man operations.
Since its debut, the train has been used on various branch lines such as the Koya Line (between Shiomibashi Station and Kishinosato-Tamade Station), Takashinohama Line, Tanagawa Line, Kada Line, and Wakayama Port Line. The entire series is set to retire by spring 2025. In light of retirement, from January 2025, the 2231 formation is being restored to the "Oriental Green body with Emerald Green stripe" that it had during its time as the 22000 series.
-The train can be motorized to an N scale train and is compatible with TM-05R Motorized Chassis, TT-04R Trailer Conversion Kit, and Tomix 0258 Pantograph.
