The Seibu Railway Series 101 is a commuter train with a three-door car body that was introduced in 1969 to coincide with the opening of the Seibu Chichibu Line.
Units manufactured from 1979 onward are classified as the Series New 101 .
Trainset 263 is a four-car, all-motorized formation that was introduced in 2008 following a reconfiguration. It was deployed as a replacement for the aging E31 class electric locomotives.
In addition to operating as a hauling vehicle, it is normally in service on the Sayama Line.
