The series BEC819 is an AC overhead-line/battery electric multiple unit introduced by Kyushu Railway Company. It entered service in 2016 with the aim of replacing diesel railcars operating on non-electrified lines.
Under electrified sections, the train collects power from the overhead wire via a pantograph for both operation and battery charging. On non-electrified sections, it runs using the electricity stored in its onboard batteries.
Nicknamed “DENCHA” (a combination of “DENki” meaning electric and “CHA” from train), it is currently operated on lines such as the Chikuhō Main Line and the Kashii Line.
This product reproduces the subseries 0 assigned to the Nogata Rolling Stock Center.
-The train can be motorized to an N scale train and is compatible with TM-22 Motorized Chassis, TT-04R Trailer Conversion Kit, and Tomix 6713 Pantograph.
