The 211-3000 series commuter train model reproduces the long-seat, cold- and snow-resistant commuter train introduced in 1986 to replace early non-air-conditioned 115 series cars. Originally used mainly on the Takasaki Line and other major routes such as the Utsunomiya Line, the 211-3000 series was withdrawn from those lines in 2014 with the introduction of the E233-3000 series. Since 2016, these cars have been reassigned to local services around Takasaki, replacing older 107 and 115 series trains and operating in shortened 4- and 3-car formations. The four-car variant is widely used on lines around Takasaki and is currently in service on the Ryomo Line, Shinetsu Main Line, Joetsu Line, and Agatsuma Line.
