The Niigata Vehicle Center T Formation was utilized for the "Inaho" and "Hokuetsu" limited express services. It was known for its design, featuring blue and green stripes over a white base, commonly referred to as the Kamitsubaki color scheme.
The T13 formation was the last active set among the T formations, continuing to perform until December 2014, even after the "Inaho" lineup was unified under the E653 series in July of the same year.
