The WAKI type 5000 is a bogie covered freight car based on the WAKI type 10000, designed for high-speed freight trains with a maximum speed of 85 km/h. From the late 1980s, some cars underwent modifications like shelf removal and were designated as the 30000 series. These were primarily used for transporting paper products from Hokkaido, and some were utilized for chemical product transport as well.
