Tomix 97617 JR Series 209-500 Commuter Train (Musashino Line) 8 Cars Set (N scale)

Overview

The Musashino Line Series 209-500 was introduced to the Musashino Line in 2010 after three trains were transferred from the Keiyo Line following the introduction of the Series E233-5000 on the Keiyo Line. Later network updates, including the installation of platform gates on the Chuo and Sobu lines, required train reallocations. Series E231-500 units from the Yamanote Line were reassigned to the Chuo and Sobu lines, and surplus 209-500 and E231 series trains were moved to the Musashino Line to replace the older Series 205. During transfer to the Musashino Line, formations were shortened and the exterior was repainted in the line’s three colors: orange, white, and sepia. By 2019, 11 sets had entered service on the Musashino Line.

- Musashino Line: between Fuchu-Honmachi and Nishi-Funabashi

- Keiyo Line: between Nishi-Funabashi and Kaihin-Makuhari / Tokyo

- Rapid Shimousa: between Kaihin-Makuhari and Omiya

- Rapid Musashino: between Omiya and Hachioji, with through services to the Tohoku Main Line and Chuo Line
