The KIHA series 183-2550 is designed to operate at 130 km/h on the Hokuto limited express. Introduced in 1994 as a strengthened-brake variant of the series 550, this model reproduces the upgraded HET appearance applied during the Hokuto renewal: light gray body with blue and green stripes and the HET183 logo beside the driver’s cab.
