The series 287 "Kuroshio" train was introduced as a replacement for the series 381 operating in the Nanki region and began service in March 2012.
- The "Kuroshio" primarily runs between Shirahama/Shingﾅｫ and Shin-Osaka/Kyoto in configurations of 6 or 9 cars.
- Renewed product version of the JR West Limited Express series 287 "Kuroshio."
- By combining with the basic set <97634>, a 9-car configuration can be recreated.
- JR logo is pre-printed.
- Door steps are pre-printed with yellow stripes.
- Includes a transfer sheet for optional car numbers.
- Newly designed parts to replicate the appearance of the open through door.
- Newly designed TN coupler (SP) on the driver's cabin side of the lead car.
- Headlights include a constantly lit circuit board with an ON/OFF switch.
- Both lead cars have constantly lit circuit boards that light the headlights in both forward and reverse directions.
