The series E129 is a general type electric train introduced for the Niigata region in 2014. This series consists of 2-car formations known as the series 100 A formation and 4-car formations known as the series 0 B formation. This flexibility in configuration allows for formations ranging from 2 to 6 cars.
A significant feature of the series E129 is the alignment of passenger doors between the lead car and intermediate cars, ensuring seamless boarding and alighting even when coupled, as the intermediate car adapts its door placement and car end spaces according to the lead car.
Notably, A33, A34 formations of the A series and B27 formations of the B series were enhanced in 2022 with a modification in the roof bead arrangement, changing from 5-strand to 27-strand, altering the appearance of the roof significantly.
The series E129 operates on several lines: Shinetsu Main Line, Uetsu Main Line, Hakushin Line, Echigo Line, Yahiko Line, and Joetsu Line.
- A33 and A34 formations enhanced in 2022 are now available as a product.
- The model replicates the roof beads characteristic of the enhanced train with a 27-bead arrangement and two pantographs.
