The E2-1000 series was developed in 2001 for the opening of the Tohoku Shinkansen Hachinohe extension, based on the previous E2-0 series.
Compared to the E2-0 series, this model features enlarged side windows and single-arm pantographs. From the series introduced in 2010, the side destination display was enlarged and changed to a full-color display.
From March 2012, it operated alongside the E3 series ・€・Tsubasa・€・ of the Yamagata Shinkansen, replacing the former E4 series on routes between Tokyo and Fukushima. Currently, it is primarily operated on the Tohoku Shinkansen ・€・Nasuno.・€・
- The full 10-car configuration can be reproduced by combining this product with the <98898> basic set.
