About the Real Aircraft
- The F-14 Tomcat served as the main air superiority fighter of the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 2006.
- Developed primarily for fleet defense as a carrier-based aircraft, it was equipped with long-range air-to-air missiles, such as the AIM-54 Phoenix, short-range air-to-air missiles like the AIM-9 Sidewinder, and an M61 Vulcan cannon.
- It featured the AN/AWG-9 radar, capable of tracking 24 targets simultaneously from approximately 160 km away and engaging six of them at once.
- The aircraft's variable-sweep wings, adjustable between 20 to 68 degrees, were a distinctive feature.
