As World War II entered its latter stages, the German army faced tough defensive battles against advancing Allied forces. During this period, German troops ambushed enemy tanks, employing anti-tank mines and Panzerfausts in close-quarter combat. This model portrays German Panzergrenadiers lying in wait for Soviet tanks advancing on the Eastern Front, capturing the tension of timing their attack.
Master modeler Yoshitaka Hirano, a familiar name to military hobbyists, crafted this dramatic scene, depicting soldiers lurking behind cover with palpable tension. Enhancing realism, the Gen2 kit meticulously divides parts such as wrists, ankles, and faces to replicate details like cuff depth and sole patterns, a favorite among model enthusiasts.
Each of the four figures is distinct, wearing standard uniforms under camouflage smocks or parkas, alongside camouflage trousers. The jacket hems are separately molded for a three-dimensional finish. Etched parts for belts and straps add authenticity.
The heads of the figures come in various styles: helmeted, wearing field caps, and one with a bandaged head. This variety offers dynamic display options. Handheld weaponry also boasts sharp detailing, characteristic of the Gen2 line, including weapons like the Gew43 and StG44 assault rifles, Panzerfausts, and TMi-43 anti-tank mines. Additional accessories include gas mask cases, canteens, bags, pouches, and wooden Panzerfaust cases, adding versatility to the set.
