About the Actual Aircraft:

The T-4 is a subsonic jet developed by Japan as a successor to the T-33A trainer. It serves as an intermediate trainer aircraft for Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) pilots transitioning from propeller aircraft to jet fighter training. Distinguished by its innovative transonic wing design, which enables stable flight from low to transonic speeds, the T-4 has been deployed in JASDF units since 1988. It is also utilized by the aerobatic team, Blue Impulse. In 2024, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the JASDF, special commemorative paint schemes were featured at air shows hosted at various bases. At the Ashiya Base Air Show held on October 6, 2024, the T-4 painted in black and blue drew significant attention.
