The S12 model, the fourth generation of the Silvia and the second generation of the Gazelle, made its debut in August 1983 as a complete model change from the previous S110 series. The styling maintains a linear design from its predecessor but incorporates smooth, flowing lines to match the trends of the time. Featuring fully retractable headlights housed in a sharp, low hood, and a flush surface full door design, it is said to have an appearance akin to a fighter jet.
