Ken and Mary's Skyline
The fourth generation Skyline C110 series, fondly known as "Kenmeri," debuted in September 1972 as a full model change from the legendary C10 series. From its launch, it starred two young individuals, Ken and Mary, in commercials with a romantic and human story that gained immense popularity across various age groups and eventually became a social phenomenon. While the Kenmeri car itself was a massive success, the related merchandise also hit big, with T-shirt sales surpassing 300,000 units. The fundamental long-nose, short-deck style, along with identifying features of the Skyline like the four round tail lights, surfing line, and horizontal pointer meter, were all embodied in the Kenmeri, making it the most successful model with a cumulative production of over 670,000 units. Among the Kenmeris, the 4-door model began to be referred to as "Yonmeri" from the mid-'80s and is still affectionately known as "Yonmeri" today.
