Description

The DD13 is Japan's first mass-produced diesel locomotive for switching operations, developed by the Japan National Railways. A total of 416 units were built over nine years, starting in 1958 (Showa 33). It is broadly categorized into early and late models, with distinctive features in their appearance and bogies. The DD13 contributed to the modernization and elimination of smoke at railyards across the country, primarily excelling in yard switching and pulling freight trains on short-distance routes. However, it was also utilized to haul passenger trains, such as the Hayatama night local train, as well as on certain lines, including the Suigun Line, Shimizu Port Line, Amagasaki Port Line, and Wadamisaki Line.

- Reproduces the form of the high-power group non-double-heading type from around 1975 (Showa 50), based on the 14th and 15th batch vehicles (Nos. 203–264) manufactured between 1964 (Showa 39) and 1966 (Showa 41).
- Accurately replicates the features of the late model with a modernized appearance, including dual shield beams and wing spring-equipped bogies.
- Realistically recreates the characteristics of the upgraded fuel tank capacity and repositioned original air reservoir.
- Signal flame tubes and whistles are pre-installed. H-rubber is depicted in gray.
- Includes selectable number plates: "211," "225," "248," "257" / selectable manufacturers' plates: "Mitsubishi" and "Kisha Seizo Kaisha."
- Equipped with a power unit featuring a flywheel for stable operation.
- Standard Arnold couplers included, along with optional knuckle couplers for replacement.
