Eizan Electric Railway is a private railway line that connects Demachiyanagi in Kyoto City to Kurama at the foot of Mount Kurama, a tourist destination in the northern part of Kyoto City. The 900 Series "Kirara," introduced in 1997 (Heisei 9), is characterized by large panoramic windows that allow passengers to enjoy the seasonal landscapes from inside the train. Two train sets, featuring "Maple Red" and "Maple Orange" colors inspired by autumn leaves, are in operation. To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Eizan Railway Kurama Line on December 1, 2018 (Heisei 30), one of the "Maple Red" train sets was repainted in "Maple Green," inspired by the refreshing greenery of early summer maple leaves. This train operated from March 21, 2019 (Heisei 31) to early December 2024 (Reiwa 6).
