The 205 series of the Musashino Line was first introduced in 1991. Since 2002, some 205 series trains transferred from lines like the Yamanote Line and the Saikyo Line have been added to replace the older 103 series. These trains were fitted with new VVVF inverter devices. This new series was designated as the 5000 series, and due to combinations of transferred vehicles, many trains featured a mix of early and late models. The M20 formation, based at the Keiyo Vehicle Center, featured leading cars and electric cars from the former Yamanote Line and two SAHA205 cars from the former Saikyo Line. This train operated until the end of the 205 series service on the Musashino Line. The transfer of Musashino Line vehicles to Indonesia, which began in 2018, concluded with the M20 formation in October 2020, marking the end of 205 series operations on the Musashino Line.
