Highly detailed model of the JR Shikoku Series KIHA181 that served as limited express trains connecting destinations across Shikoku.
The Series KIHA181 operated from the JNR era through JR transition, with 44 cars inherited by JR Shikoku.
Replicates the JR Shikoku corporate ivory and sky blue livery introduced after the transition.
Interior upgrades and unique JR Shikoku modifications are reproduced, including reclining seats similar to KIHA185 and conversions of Kiroha 180 cars to half-green car Kiroha 180 variants.
Represents services such as Nanpu, Ashizuri, Shimanto, Shiokaze, Ishizuchi, and Uwakai, which remained in regular service until 1993.
- Models represent formations from around 1991 at JR Shikoku Takamatsu Depot.
- Accurate exterior changes reproduced: KIHA181 tablet catcher and protection plate removed, JR radio antenna fitted, emergency door and body skirt louver closures, and coupling face dampers removed.
- Reproduces front rain gutters on KIHA181 heads. Horn shapes vary by car: shutter type on KIHA181-38 and 103, slit type on KIHA181-6, 34, 39, 40. KIHA181-39 is shown without a snowplow. Mid-train KIHA181 cars include front-end collar fitted.
- The Shiokaze / Ishizuchi 8-car set includes a Series KIHA181-100 lead car converted to a lead unit: end toilet and washroom windows closed off, shorter equipment room with no small window adjacent to it, and no front rain gutter.
- Kiroha 180-2 / -3 are converted from Series KIROHA 180-100 with a beverage preparation room located in the original toilet/washroom position and retain small windows.
- The 8-car set Kiroha 180-7 is a conversion from the Series KIROHA 180-200 with large windows matching KIHA180, some small windows added in the conductor and ordinary seating sections, and original drip edge retained at the closed emergency door area.
- Ivory and sky blue JR Shikoku livery faithfully reproduced.
- Window H-rubber represented in gray.
- Slotless motor for smooth, quiet operation.
- Head and tail lights and train name boards light up; white LEDs used; on/off switch included.
- Body-mount KATO-style telescopic couplers fitted on both end and intermediate cars. Electric coupler for KIHA181 lead cars included.
