Model of the JR West series KIHA181, which played an active role on Sanin-Sanyo connecting limited express services.
The series KIHA181 is a limited express diesel multiple unit introduced during the JNR era and continued in service under JR. JR West units operated on non-electrified sections as limited express services such as Kunibiki, Oki, Inaba, Isokaze, Hakuto, Hamakaze and Asashio, and linked Sanin with Kyushu and Kansai regions.
- Models represent cars assigned to Goto General Rolling Stock around 1998.
- Recreates the KIHA181 with tablet catcher removed, train radio antenna installed, blocked emergency doors, and intermediate car gangway doors modified with large windows.
- KIHA180 reproduces the reduced-size side windows beside passenger doors after the conductor’s compartment installation.
- Front limited express emblem reproduced in silver.
- Beautifully reproduced exterior in JNR limited express colors with JR mark.
- Window H-rubber represented in black on every car.
- Equipped with a slotless motor for smooth and quiet running.
- Head and tail lights plus nameboard illumination with on/off switch. Uses white LEDs.
- Front and intermediate cars come standard with body-mounted KATO telescoping close-coupler style couplers. Electric coupler for KIHA181 front car included.
- Front headmark is pre-fitted as Oki. Exchangeable headmarks included to represent different services: Kunibiki, Isokaze, Inaba, Hamakaze, Asashio, plain.
