Kato 10-2039 Series 165 345M Ogaki Night Train 8 Cars Set (N scale)

The Ogaki Night Train began when, following the October 1968 timetable revision and the increase in Shinkansen services, night local trains were drastically reorganized. The famous coach train that once ran between Tokyo and Osaka was shortened to operate between Tokyo and Ogaki and was electrified. Initially operated by series 153 trains from the Ogaki Depot, the service later used mixed series 155 and 159 sets and was unified to the series 165 in 1982. Although a local train, its night service character made it the last train for commuters from the Tokyo suburbs and a useful connection for travelers heading toward the Kansai region. Because of shared service with the express Tokaido, the two-car coupled Green car was particularly popular. The service continued after JNR privatization, with series 165  operation continuing until March 1996. It later ran as the rapid Moonlight Nagara with JR Central series 373 rolling stock and became a seasonal train in 2009. Rolling stock later changed to JR East series 183, 189, and 185, and the service officially ended in 2021.
