The 315 series is a commuter model train from JR Central, developed to replace the 211 series and similar models generated before and after the JR privatization. It was the first format to adopt the company's next-generation brand, "N-QUALIS." Since March of 2022, the 0 series eight-car through formation has been operational on the Chuo Main Line between Nagoya and Nakatsugawa. The subsequently introduced 3000 series, a group of four-car formations, started operations on the Kansai Main Line between Nagoya and Kameyama from June 2023, and will begin operations on the Taketoyo Line, Tokaido Main Line (Obu to Ogaki), and Tokaido Main Line Shizuoka region in March and June of 2024, respectively, expanding its operational areas. The 3000 series is equipped with side cameras on the train in anticipation of one-man operation with the 315 series four-car formations, with plans for further additions.
