Description

The JR Freight EH800 is an AC electric locomotive with dual voltage, introduced as a replacement for the ED79 and EH500 on the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line after the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen section between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. The locomotive features an LCX antenna for train radio systems, similar to those on the Shinkansen, which creates a distinctive bulge on the body at the 2-end. It pulls freight trains between Higashi-Aomori and Goryokaku and was used to haul the Cassiopeia Cruise, a charter train, from June 2016 to February 2017. Starting in 2022, the JRF logo was removed from the sides of the locomotives as they underwent general inspections, and components were repainted in a dark gray color.

- Reproduces the robust dual-body structure inherited from the EH500 and mechanical rooftop equipment specific to AC locomotives.
- Features the bulge of the LCX antennas installed on both sides of the bodies and reproduces the electrostatic antenna on the cab roof similar to that of the Shinkansen.
- Beautifully replicates the red body with silver lines symbolizing speed, complementing the image of connecting Honshu and Hokkaido with white lines.
- Handrails, release levers, signal flare tubes, electrostatic antennas, train radio antennas, and whistle covers are pre-installed.
- Equipped with a flywheel-driven power unit for stable operation.
- Headlights light up with a bulb-colored LED.
- Includes optional number plates "5, 8, 14, 19." Manufacturing plate pre-printed with "Toshiba." Safety equipment labels "PF," "SF," "Ps," and "C."
- Standard fit with Arnold couplers, with extra knuckle couplers included.
- Recreates the appearance after the removal of the JRF logo and inspection post-2022.
- Dark gray repainting of the obstacle deflector, bogies, and underfloor machinery reflects the revised design from its initial release.
