JR Freight's EH800 is the first AC electric locomotive introduced after the JR transition, replacing the ED79 and EH500 series on the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line, which became unavailable for operation due to the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. It is equipped with the LCX antenna system used for train radio communication, similar to the Shinkansen. The body on the second end side features an LCX antenna, creating a distinctive bulge. In addition to hauling freight trains between Higashi-Aomori and Goryokaku, it also served as the locomotive for the group-exclusive train "Cassiopeia Cruise" from June 2016 to February 2017.
- The imposing two-body structure inherited from the EH500, with mechanical rooftop equipment unique to AC locomotives, has been precisely reproduced.
- The LCX antenna bulges on both sides of the body, and the static antenna similar to the Shinkansen is reproduced on the roof of the driver's cabin.
- Beautifully recreated coloring of the red body with silver accents representing speed, inspired by the Shinkansen, and white lines symbolizing the connection between Honshu and Hokkaido.
- Handrails, release levers, signal flares, static antennas, train radio antennas, and whistle covers are pre-installed.
- Equipped with a flywheel-powered drive unit for stable running; headlights illuminate with warm white LEDs.
- Choice of number plates “5, 8, 14, 19”; manufacturer plate with printed “Toshiba” label. Safety equipment markings include “PF,” “SF,” “Ps,” and “C.”
- Standard Arnold coupler included, with optional knuckle coupler for replacement.
