Kato 10-2086 Taiwan Railways Type E500 2 Cars Set (N scale)

- The type E500 is the first Japanese-made electric locomotive to operate in Taiwan. A major order of 88 locomotives was placed to replace aging electric locomotives that haul the PP Tze-Chiang Limited Express,  type E1000 motor coaches, and other passenger and freight cars. The E500 debuted as the next-generation locomotive, built using Toshiba Fuchu manufacturing technology.

- Distinctive features include a modular structure that creates a straight-lined exterior and numerous jumper sockets on the front for compatibility with a variety of passenger and freight cars.

- About the PP Tze-Chiang Limited Express

- "Tze-Chiang" denotes the all-reserved limited express service on Taiwan Railways. The PP Tze-Chiang operates in a push-pull configuration with motor coaches introduced in 1996 (type E1000) and consists of motor units and passenger trailers made in South Africa, Korea, and Taiwan. Trains typically run with 12 coaches and include updated cars such as family-friendly "parent-child" cars and cars with breastfeeding rooms converted from a catering preparation room. Replacement of older locomotives with type E500 units is progressing, and E500 locomotives running with PP coaches are now active across Taiwan.
