The H5 Series debuted in 2016 as JR Hokkaido's first Shinkansen. It is based on the JR East E5 Series, with some interior and exterior modifications. While its basic appearance and color scheme resemble the E5 Series, it features a lavender band known as "Saika Purple" and a symbol mark inspired by Hokkaido and the gyrfalcon, applied to five cars in the formation. Like the E5 Series, it is actively operating on routes like the "Hayabusa," connecting Tokyo and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto.
- The H1 Formation of the H5 Series is now available as a product.
- The distinctive lavender band and symbol mark of the H5 Series are realistically and accurately reproduced. The outer diaphragm at the coupler is expressed in black.
- The model reproduces the pre-window blocking condition due to the installation of luggage racks. Included are stickers for replicating the blocked windows for cars 1 to 8, as preferred.
- Symbol marks are placed on cars 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10. Printed wheelchair marks are available on cars 5 and 9.
- Equipped with a body tilt system and a front-end coupling mechanism (H514-1).
- Minimum passing curve radius: R370mm. When passing small curves (R550/490 or less) on double tracks, cars might touch. Single-track operation is recommended.
- The side destination display is a detachable part, pre-printed with "Hayabusa 39 Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto." Blank parts for exchange and destination display stickers are included.
- Incorporates a power unit with a coreless motor for stable operation. Motor cars are set in cars 3 and 7.
- Head/tail lights illuminate (white LED used). Car 10 (H514-1) includes an on/off switch.
