Description

The ED75 is a versatile locomotive introduced in 1963 as a standard AC electric locomotive by Japan National Railways, featuring traction power comparable to an F-type DC electric locomotive despite being a D-type. The 700 series was specifically manufactured for the electrification of the Ou Main Line between Akita and Aomori, with 91 units produced starting in 1971. Designed to operate along the Japan Sea Coastline, the ED75 700 series features a streamlined roof with salt, cold, and snow-resistant equipment stored inside the car body, and a distinctive lower frame cross-type pantograph that reduces snow accumulation. Toward the end of the Japan National Railways era, some of these locomotives received special paintwork to pull the Joyful Train "Orient Saloon," and they were prominently used at the head of various trains such as other Joyful Trains, the Blue Train "Akebono," and the "Orient Express '88."

After transitioning to JR, this locomotive is essential for passenger trains in the Tohoku region. It includes headmarks for the "Orient Saloon" and "Akebono," allowing you to enjoy realistic train operation scenes. Additionally, it is highly recommended for pulling the concurrently released "Orient Express '88."
