JR Kyushu DE10 locomotives were repainted beginning in 2010 for a television program, and subsequently all eight DE10s in the company were updated to the same striking livery. The entire body including the roof is black, with gold handrails and vermilion walkboards as the most distinctive visual features. Normally used for shunting and hauling construction trains, these locomotives have also hauled the cruise train Seven Stars in Kyushu and have been assigned to special train duties in the past, including pulling the 24 series coaches of the Twilight Express.
