Kato 10-2143 Series 683-4000 'Thunderbird' (Renewal Cars) 5 Cars Add-on Set (N scale)

The series 683-4000 used on the limited express Thunderbird was built between 2009 and 2011 as fixed 9-car formations. Distinctive exterior features include full-width gangway doors on both cab ends (preparation work on the Kuro 683 front) and a single-arm pantograph.

An offset collision protection structure was adopted to improve safety, visible on the cab end faces.

A renewal refit in 2015 updated the livery from the previous gray-based design to a modern black and blue scheme.
