Kato 10-2093 Series E721-0/1000 6 Cars Set (N scale)

  

- Background: The series E721 entered service in 2007 to renew rolling stock at JR East Sendai Depot and to serve the Sendai Airport Access Line. Designed for low-platform local lines, it features a low-floor body with smaller-diameter wheels and step-free entrances for barrier-free boarding. In addition to the earlier series 0 and 500 2-car sets, a fixed 4-car series 1000 appeared in 2016, and many variations exist including third-sector cars sharing the same basic design.

- Key features and option parts:

  - The 6-car set models the P-7 formation (series 0) and P4-11 formation (series 1000) from the Sendai Train Depot. Underfloor equipment such as bogies and obstacle deflectors are reproduced in gray for the series 0 and bluish gray for the series 1000.

  - Distinct livery stripe colors reproduced accurately by series (series 0: green, white, red; series 1000: green, white, pink). Car numbers, depot markings, and car position indicators are pre-printed.

  - Window sizes on the toilet-opposite side are reproduced to reflect differences by series.

  - Head and tail lights illuminate, with an on/off switch. Each lead car lights four headlamp units.

  - New round-pipe PS109 type pantographs are newly manufactured for the model.

  - Bogies: low-floor DT72 / TR256 types modeled. Small-diameter wheels with a 5.2 mm wheel diameter are applied to match the prototype; real-life axle spacing of 2,100 mm is faithfully reproduced. Snow plows are pre-installed.

  - Coupler details on the 6-car set: KUHA E720-7 and MOHA E721-1011 are fitted with dummy couplers that include coupler covers; MOHA E721-7 and KUHA E720-1011 are equipped with coupling obstacle deflectors and coupler covers.

  - Lead car couplers are compatible for coupling with the series 701. Intermediate connection faces use body-mounted close couplers without hooks.

  - Obstacle deflectors reproduce the different inspection hatch locations between MOHA E721 and KUHA E720, and the presence or absence of inspection hatches varies by series.

  - Front destination display set to Sendai; replacement front displays included: Shin-Shirakawa and blank. Destination decal stickers included.

  - DCC friendly for modelers using digital control systems.
