The 287 series is a DC limited express train developed by JR West, based on the 683 series 4000 subseries. It is active as "Kounotori" and "Kuroshio."
In 2025, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the "Kuroshio" limited express, a special 60th-anniversary edition train began operation in July. This design is inspired by the 381 series "Super Kuroshio," which operated from 1989 and is set to run until February 2026.
