Description

The express train "Hakkoda" travels via the Tohoku Main Line, connecting Ueno and Aomori with its passenger express service. Debuted in 1961, during the 1960s to 1970s, it led the way among night trains to the Tohoku region, departing Ueno at 7:00 PM, and efficiently connecting travelers to Hokkaido via the Seikan ferry from Aomori. After leaving Ueno, the train allowed passengers to reach destinations like Wakkanai, Abashiri, and Obihiro by the next day, making it popular among young travelers known as the "KANI tribe" for their large backpacks. During the midnight stretch between Sendai and Aomori, sleeper cars were added, and it served as an important express train with frequent stops in cities within the Tohoku area.

- Night express "Hakkoda" on the Tohoku Main Line. Reproduces the formation primarily composed of seating cars after the March 1975 timetable revision.
- The last car on the descending train, the Wasafu 8000, is equipped with tail lights on the conductor's room side (with an off switch).
- The Oyuu 10 postal car recreates the 2512 belonging to the Aomori operation, non-air-conditioned. The conductor's room side lights up (with an off switch).
- The end cars on the Aomori side, Suhafu 42 (Car 9/11), come standard with tail lights on the conductor's room side (with an off switch).
- Suro 62 and Naha 11 feature separate ventilator parts from the roof, instead of being integrated as in previous products.
- Roof painting is differentiated, with series 10 passenger cars (Naha, Suro, Suhane, Oyuu) in light gray, and Suha 43 series (Suha, Suhafu) in dark gray.
- Side number signs, type displays, and destination boards are pre-printed (Express "Hakkoda" bound for Aomori). Includes destination display sticker (Ueno and Sendai).
- Train ends come with Arnold couplers, and the middle sections are equipped with KATO Coupler N JP as standard. Includes KATO knuckle coupler for replacement.
- The Add-on Set bookcase can store one locomotive.
- Compatible with interior lighting kit Kato 11-211 (11-212) and Kato 11-213 (11-214)
*This set does not contain a motor car.
