Description

The EF57 is a pre-war Japan National Railways DC electric locomotive, first introduced in 1940, known for its magnificent style featuring front and rear bogie decks. It initially served on the Tokaido Main Line hauling express trains like the "Tsubame," and later transferred to the Tohoku Main Line where it was equipped with electric heating systems for passenger cars. It distinguished itself in express trains "Hakkoda" and "Tsugaru," as well as in ordinary trains.
Notably, the first unit of this series, No. 1, features a distinctive, boxy body design inherited from the EF56 second series (8-12) and a centrally positioned pantograph, marking it significantly different from subsequent units.

  - Modeled after the locomotive stationed at the Utsunomiya depot around 1972.
  - Depicts the front-projecting pantograph, large decks, and the robust front bogies unique to the old-style electric locomotives.
  - Features a black roof as seen in the Omiya plant models.
  - The pantograph base is without reinforcement ribs; the main frame is integrated up to the deck.
  - Reproduces the roof ventilators in a 6-4 combination with the standard-length running board on the 1-end side.
  - Comes with selectable number plates: "EF57 2," "EF57 4," "EF57 8," and "EF57 14."
- Incorporates spoke-type open wheels.
- Equipped with a slotless motor for smooth and quiet operation.
- Includes a detailed cabin (control panel, seat, see-through interior).
- Headlights illuminate using bulb-color LED.
- Standard equipped with Arnold couplers. Includes KATO knuckle couplers for replacement.
