JR Kyushu Seven Stars in Kyushu is Japan’s first full-scale cruise train, beginning service on October 15, 2013. Operating on sightseeing routes around Kyushu under the concept "A journey to encounter a new life," it has won enormous popularity among passengers and local communities. The real train is an eight-car formation consisting of seven 77 series 7000-series coaches and a dedicated DF200-7000 locomotive, presenting an elegant, refined appearance with a lustrous finish. The train was renewed in October 2022, when Car 2 was converted from a dining car into a salon car called Mokusei with a newly added tea room, and Car 3 received a new gallery shop and bar.
