The Seto, which ran between Tokyo and Takamatsu, and the Asakaze, which ran between Tokyo and Shimonoseki, were operated in the early JR era using a common set of cars. Instead of the power car KANI24, power was supplied by a Suha25 lounge car equipped with a pantograph, and the formation featured a distinctive OHANEFU25 300 fitted with a luggage compartment.

- Recreates the formation from around 1990–1991 that included a lounge car.
- Recreates the Suha25 300 lounge car with a distinctive long horizontal lounge window with black-bordered silver surround, multiple louvers, and a roof equipped with a pantograph.
- Recreates the Orone25 300 A sleeper compartment car with unique arrangement of compartment-side windows and an added water tank.
- Recreates the OHANEFU25 300 with an added luggage compartment, additional boarding doors, and KE70 jumper plug receptacles added to the end face. Tail lights and switchable train mark (name display) lighting are illuminated.
- OHANEFU25 100 reproduces the form with added KE70 jumper plugs used for emergency pantograph lowering commands.
- The locomotive-facing ends of OHANEFU25 cars come standard with Arnold couplers. Replacement knuckle couplers are included. All intermediate connections use body-mounted close-coupling automatic couplers.
- OHANEFU25 cars 1, 7, and 13 have illuminated tail lights and switchable train mark lighting. The OHANEFU25 147 in car 7 includes an off switch for the lights.
- Window gasket color (H rubber) is reproduced as follows: black for all Orone25 windows; black for the name display window and passenger windows of OHANEFU25 300; the two end monitoring windows on OHANEFU25 100 are black; all other window gaskets are gray.
- Body stripe colors are reproduced faithfully: gold stripe for Orone25 and Suha25 only; silver stripe for other cars.
- Car number plates are pre-printed. Side destination panels are plain white with destination sticker sheets included for customization.
- Train marks (name displays) included: Seto, Asakaze, Extra.
