Leo Lionni
Born in the Netherlands in 1910.
After living in Italy, he moved to the U.S and found success as an illustrator and graphic designer.
Published nearly 30 picture books, starting with 'Little Blue and Little Yellow' in 1959.
He won the prestigious Caldecott Award for Children's Literature in the U.S. with three works: 'Swimmy', 'Frederick', and 'Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse'.
Additionally, he has received 21 awards for 11 works in the U.S and Germany.
Passed away in Tuscany, Italy, in 1999.
Leo Lionni's works, which fused outstanding graphics with profound philosophy, have influenced many people in the field of art, earning him the title of 'the world's greatest picture book author'.
In Japan, he is also familiar across generations, as his works are featured in textbooks.
