Leo Lionni was born in the Netherlands in 1910. After living in Italy, he moved to the USA and achieved success as an illustrator and graphic designer. In 1959, he published "Little Blue and Little Yellow" and went on to publish nearly 30 picture books. "Swimmy," "Frederick," and "Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse" are three of his works that have won the prestigious Caldecott Honor in the USA.
He held 21 award titles across 11 works in the USA and Germany. He passed away in Tuscany, Italy, in 1999. Leo Lionni's work, which fuses outstanding graphics and profound philosophy, has influenced many in the art field, earning the title of "the world's greatest picture book author." Additionally, his works have been included in textbooks in Japan and are loved across generations.
