Shokaku-class Aircraft Carrier Second Ship 1/700 Scale Model Kit
Standard (STD) version with a PLUS version available that includes additional detailed parts.

Key Historical Motifs
- Represents the ship at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack and shortly afterward
- No radar installed; Type 94 high-angle director mounted on the bridge, with only one director on the port side
- Additional gun positions on the bow and stern are not yet fitted
- Flight deck white markings reflect the December 1941 configuration
- Included carrier aircraft reflect types active at the outbreak: A6M Zero Model 21, D3A Type 99 carrier bomber, B5N Type 97 carrier attack aircraft

Hull
- Left and right split hull construction for precise detail
- Internal reinforcement parts included to ensure strength
- Sponsons designed as separate parts to create three-dimensional relief
- External conduits fitted as in naval preparatory works, reproduced with delicate engraving including fastenings
- All portholes shown open to represent the completed ship at the time of outbreak
- Keel section designed to fit into the inner hull side; underwater hull below the waterline is not modeled
Flight Deck
- One-piece flight deck from bow to stern
- Windbreak and three elevators molded as separate parts
- Elevators can be assembled in the lowered position
- Windbreak can be assembled folded or raised
- Detailed engraved deck surfaces with realistic wooden deck texture
- Deck engraving depth balanced for realistic shading and panel effect
- Expansion joints shown as recessed engraving
- Drainage channels reproduced around the flight deck
- Arrestor markings and overhang surfaces sculpted with rounded recessed details
- Truss structure under the flight deck rendered as three-dimensional sculpting
Bow and Stern
- Anchor and stern decks are separate parts from the hull sides
- Anchor deck includes integrated bollards and windlass details
- Deck surfaces engraved with fine anti-slip split pattern
- All flight deck support columns are separate parts so each stanchion is realistically shaped
- Chrysanthemum crest molded as an integrated piece on a mounting plate (PLUS version includes a separate crest part)
- Stern boat decks are two-tiered and modeled as independent parts
- Boat cradles are integrated in the standard version; PLUS version includes separate, more realistic cradle parts
- Decks feature engraved anti-slip pattern
- Standard boats are molded as single-piece items; PLUS version provides multi-piece boats for easier painting
- Included boats modeled: 12 meter motor launch, 11 meter motor launch, 13 meter special cargo boat
- Additional equipment such as drill loading gun and stern signal lamp supplied as separate parts for realism
Bridge and Funnels
- Bridge base in left and right split parts
- Bridge windows integrated into the charting bridge part, molded in gray
- Air defense command post is a separate piece; PLUS version adds a detailed binocular part for enhanced realism
- Fine fittings such as ladders and 60 cm signal searchlight supplied as individual parts
- 60 cm signal searchlight molded in gray in the standard version; PLUS version provides a transparent part
- Both funnels are upper and lower split parts
- U-shaped external profile and emergency smoke outlet molds accurately reproduced
- Internal baffles and grille at the funnel tip provided as separate parts
Anti-Aircraft Armament
- 12.7 cm twin high-angle guns supplied in versions with and without shields as separate parts
- A1 type without shield represented with separate parts; PLUS version includes multi-piece realistic parts
- A1 type modified with shield represented with separate parts; PLUS version includes additional realistic parts
- 25 mm triple anti-aircraft guns molded as single-piece units in the standard kit for ease of assembly; PLUS version provides two-piece units for easier paint separation
Deck Fittings and Small Gear
- Mooring booms supplied as separate parts, allowing choice of deployed or stowed configuration
- Gangways are separate parts so docked appearance can be reproduced
Carrier Aircraft
- Aircraft molded in gray in the standard kit for improved workability and to reduce breakage at gate removal
- Three aircraft types included: A6M Zero Model 21, D3A Type 99 carrier bomber, B5N Type 97 carrier attack aircraft
- Two of each type included, six aircraft total in the standard kit
- A6M Zero Model 21 modeled with separate canopy, propeller, landing gear, and drop tank parts
- D3A Type 99 carrier bomber modeled with separate canopy, propeller, landing gear, and bombs
- B5N Type 97 carrier attack aircraft modeled with separate canopy, propeller, landing gear, and torpedo
- PLUS version offers transparent molded aircraft parts and expanded aircraft counts for enhanced display options
Decals and Markings
- Two decal sheets included in the standard version
- Flight deck white lines and other deck markings provided on one sheet; markings were reexamined and newly created in 2026
- Flight deck markings cover Pearl Harbor operations, Indian Ocean operations, and the Battle of the Coral Sea
- Naval ensign, national flag, and aircraft hinomaru markings provided on the second sheet; three sizes supplied corresponding to authentic dimensions scaled to 1/700
- Aircraft marking decals included
- PLUS version adds an additional hull name decal for the stern
