- Unpainted assembly kit requiring adhesive and paint
- Mix of existing and newly developed molds; underwater hull molds updated for 2025 and above-water molds based on 2019 designs
- Faithful representation of the late-period Mogami-class fourth ship Kumano, showing differences from sister ships Mogami, Mikuma and Suzuya

Hull
- Dedicated hull parts reproduce the sloped hull side at mid deck level unique to late Mogami-class ships Kumano and Suzuya
- Hull side cross section differs from early Mogami and Mikuma, with special mold parts included

- Anti-aircraft command position and navigation bridge floors feature finely engraved grating texture
- Binocular telescope parts included to enhance visual detail when mounted
- Forward gun platform for an additional machine gun supplied as a dedicated part to reflect changes from 1942 configurations
- Forward mast uses Suzuya-specific parts to reproduce differences in mast height and crosspiece

Central superstructure and deck equipment
- Funnel reflects the thin profile characteristic of Kumano and Suzuya, accounting for ten boilers and differing from the thicker forward funnel of Mogami and Mikuma
- Funnel cap molded to show an open state
- Steam discharge pipes supplied as separate parts for added detail
- Air intake under the spotlight amidships uses Kumano and Suzuya specific parts
- Deck linoleum patterns and equipment layout differ from Mogami and Mikuma and are reproduced with dedicated parts
- 12.7 cm twin high-angle gun mounts match Kumano and Suzuya configurations; mount backs include specific protrusions for these ships
- Torpedo launchers are newly developed heavy cruiser type, distinct from earlier Mogami-class cruiser aviation launcher parts
- Torpedo tubes can be posed in multiple orientations to show stowed or firing alignment
- Shelter deck with torpedo handling area and spare torpedo storage modeled from official plans with detailed strip-pattern decking
- Catapult (Kure Type 2 No.5) reproduced using slide mold for realistic side and top surfaces
- Aircraft handling deck includes an intake opening not present on Mogami and Mikuma

Stern and aft equipment
- Aft mast parts capture the individual height and crosspiece characteristics specific to Kumano
- Aft mast includes a tripod element fitted with a Type 13 radar reflecting late war configuration
- Aft mast top reproduced in Kumano-specific vertical and Y-shaped form with radar compartment
- Crane parts differ from Suzuya and feature finely sculpted light openings
- Aft superstructure and stern include additional machine gun mounts as separate parts
- Side air intake openings on the aft bridge reproduced with Kumano-specific parts
- Rigging supports for radio aerials on turrets three and four supplied as ship-specific parts

Armament
- Main gun barrels have fixed elevation; turrets can rotate after assembly
- 25 mm anti-aircraft guns supplied as precision parts with separate barrels and mounts for triple, twin and single mounts
- Some parts molded in two colors for painting convenience: mount bases in warship color and barrels in gunmetal; painted assembly can be done by cutting from runners and bonding

Underwater hull and propulsion
- One-piece left-right integrated underwater hull part
- Bulges below the waterline supplied as separate parts; bulge above the waterline integrated with the hull
- Realistic shaft bracket shapes and curved rudder boss surfaces
- Rudder attachment thickness reproduced; balanced twin rudders have engraved surfaces for a three-dimensional effect
- Scuppers and other intake and discharge openings represented by engraving
- Bilge keel integral with the bulge reproduces the larger post-performance improvement shape

Aircraft
- Includes two Type 0 three-seat reconnaissance seaplanes and one Type 0 observation seaplane
- Aircraft parts molded in gray to reduce damage when cutting from runners and to improve assembly handling

Decals and markings
- Decal sheets include naval ensign, national flags and aircraft Hinomaru markings in multiple sizes to match historical flag widths at 1/700 scale
- Includes late-war Hinomaru variants without white border
- Additional decal sheet contains stern ship name, white lines for the aft mast, draft marks, and two options for stern ship name in gold or warship color
